El Yunque is the sole tropical rain forest in the U.S. National Forest System. The rain forest is famous for its biodiversity. Thousands of native plants, including 150 fern species, 240 tree species (88 of these are endemic or rare and 23 are exclusively found in this forest). The Caribbean National Forest has no large wildlife species, but hundreds of smaller animals abound in this gentle forest, many of which exist nowhere else on the planet!
The rain forest is very accessible. The visitor center offers exhibitions, movies, a bookshop and much more. You can take different hikes on the total of 24 miles of hiking trails and ‘shower’ under a waterfall!
El Yunque es el único bosque tropical lluvioso en los EE.UU. del Sistema Nacional Forestal. La selva tropical es famosa por su biodiversidad. Miles de plantas nativas, incluyendo 150 especies de helechos, 240 especies de árboles (88 de ellas son endémicas o raras y 23 se encuentran únicamente en este bosque). El Bosque Nacional del Caribe no tiene grandes especies de vida silvestre, pero cientos de animales más pequeños abundan en este bosque suave, muchos de los cuales no existen en ningún otro lugar del planeta!
La selva es muy accesible. El centro de visitantes ofrece exposiciones, cine, una librería y mucho más.
Usted puede tomar excursiones diversas en el total de 24 kilómetros de rutas de senderismo y ’ducha’ debajo de una cascada!
